The Bible is not the inspired work that fundamentalists would deceive us into believing. It is a very human work, with the errors of humans repeatedly passed off as the "words of God". Continuing, let us look at mathematics.

I Kings 7: 23, "23 Now he [Solomon] made a sea of cast metal ten cubits from brim to brim, circular in form, and its height was five cubits, and thirty cubits in circumference."

An object with a diameter of 10 cannot have a circumference of 30; it is a mathematical impossibility. If the diameter is 10, it must be multiplied by pi, and pi is 3.14...; which means that if this object ever existed, obviously the author never measured it but was fast to give figures, its circumference had to be in excess of 31.4.... This is proof, "beyond a reasonable doubt" that the bible is errant as to the mathematics of the molten sea of Solomon.

Apologetics:
1) Rounding pi to the nearest whole measurement gives 30.
2) The measurements are approximates.
3) The measuring the circumference from inside would allow closer to 30.

Rebuttal:
1) Rounding pi to the nearest whole measurement gives 31, but we are not looking at a mathematical equation on paper, we are looking at a physical object with a diameter of 10; rounding is impossible, the object was in excess of 31.
2) The passage does not mention approximates, it gives very clear figures.
3) There is no reason to believe that the passage is not giving the inside measurements; if it is the inside measurements than 10 still makes an excess of 31, if one reduces the 10 to get a 30, than the measurement of 10 is wrong. EITHER WAY, THE 10 IS WRONG, OR THE 30 IS WRONG. BUT THE MEASUREMENTS GIVEN ARE A DIAMETER OF 10 AND A CIRCUMFERENCE OF 30, WHICH IS AN IMPOSSIBILITY.

Gen. 2: 1-2, " Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all there hosts. 2 And by the seventh day God completed His work which He had done; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work, which God had created and made."

This account has God creating the physical universe over a six day period. Apologists are two minded on how to deal with this: hard-core fundamentalists claim that the above days are actually 24 hour periods, and that no more than 6000 earth years have passed since creation. Soft-core fundamentalists claim that the above days are actually eons. The Hebrew is specific, the word "yowa" means day, and day is a twenty-four (~) hour period. Also, supporting the hard-core literal interpretation is the v. 3 where God establishes the Sabbath day -- for it to affect humans, it cannot apply to anything beyond a time frame that humans can deal with. Therefore, the days imply 24 hour periods.

The problem with the Genesis story, is that it is not plausible for either fundamentalist views. The hard-core fundamentalists are trapped into believing that the universe is no more than 6000 years old; if that was so, than we would only see objects in space, like galaxies, that are 6000 light years away at most. That is not the case, light proves this belief to be mathematically impossible. The soft-core fundamentalists are trapped into believing that the Genesis account is flawed at the literal level, in which case, why bother.

Apologetics: Yowa in this case means eons, not set 24 hour days.

Rebuttal: That is simply the soft-core apologetic position. The Hebrews, and later the Jews, measured their weeks on this measurement. The days implied can only mean days, the Torah is correct in that human time is referred to here; otherwise, the keeping of the Sabbath would be impossible.

Gen. 1: 16-19, "16 And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser one to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17 And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that is was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day."

Now according to Genesis:
Day 1) God creates the heavens and the earth.
Day 2) God separates the liquid water from the atmosphere.
Day 3) God separates the waters from the land, commands vegetation to grow, and the earth brought forth vegetation.
Day 4) God creates the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Observation: this is the best proof of the mythical origins of Genesis. God creates the heavens, which being kind we will consider empty space; for only on the fourth day were the stars created. The earth has liquid water and an atmosphere, note the text does not state that God created the waters or the land. The earth has vegetation, which grows accordingly. Now on the fourth day, God creates the SUN. Here is proof that the Genesis account is pure mythology. Liquid water, atmosphere, and vegetation CAN ONLY EXIST IN THE PRESENCE OF A SUN, yet the bible has all three existing prior to the sun. This is impossible, and as such Genesis is impossible as an account of the origins of the universe.

[Editor's note: "And God sais 'let there be light, and there was light.' There was still nothing but now he could see it.]

Conclusion: . This is irrefutable proof that the bible is errant, and creationism a pseudo-science.

Apologetic 1: God created the sun on the first day, and says so in v.3.

Rebuttal: The text is clear, the sun was created on the fourth day, and says so in v.16. According to the text, God rested on the seventh day, and did something on each of the six days. If God had created the sun on the first day, than God did nothing on the fourth day. One cannot have it both ways. If he did nothing on the fourth day, that means that God RESTED on the fourth day, not the seventh; and it also means that creation was not a six day affair, but a FIVE day affair, with a break in between.

Apologetic 2: Liquid water and vegetation can exist without the sun as long as there is light. And light there was, even before the sun and moon were put in the heavens!

Rebuttal: It is a scientific fact that the the surface of the earth is heated by our star, the Sun; and it is a scientific fact that water cannot exist in liquid form without heat, and it is a scientific fact that plants cannot grow without photosynthesis. For according to the text, there were not even stars until the forth day; therefore, there was no source for any light. No it is obvious to any Rational mind that Genesis is myth, pure and simple; my conclusion is VALID, for it conforms to scientific truth.

MURDER IN THE BIBLE
"On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn--both men and animals--and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD." (Exodus 12:12)
"At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead." (Exodus 12:29)

The two paragraphs above are from Exodus 12:12 and 12:29. While they aren't the first references to God's temper and disposition with regard to killing, they go a long way in telling the story of how God acted and reacted to situations.
According to the Bible, Pharaoh had subjected the Israelites (God's "chosen") to terrible conditions in Egypt, working them as slaves and giving very little mercy or none to them.
As the story goes, God instructed His "chosen" to smear the blood of a lamb on their door. God would then 'passover' that house and not kill the firstborn of the family (including the livestock). As for the rest of Egypt and Egyptian families all the firstborn would die.
Egypt was a country with families. In each family, the age of the firstborn would have varied. There would have been new born infants, toddlers, young children, middle age and older adults as well as the extremely elderly, all qualifying as first born. That's not to mention the cattle, sheep, and other first born livestock the families owned.

Are we "saved" through works?
Eph. 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through faith...not of works. (Rom. 3:20, 28; Gal. 2:16)
James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.(Matt. 19:16-21)
Should good works be seen?
Matt. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works. (I Peter 2:12)
Matt. 6:1-4 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them...that thine alms may be in secret. (Matt. 23:5)
Should we own slaves?
Lev. 25:45-46 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy...and they shall be your posession...they shall be your bondmen forever. (Gen. 9:25; Ex. 21:2,7; Joel 3:8; Luke 12:47; Col. 3:22)
Is. 58:6 Undo the heavy burdens...break every yoke. (Matt. 23:10)
Does God change his mind?
Mal. 3:6. For I am the Lord; I change not. Num. 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent. (Ezek. 24:14; James 1:17)
Ex. 32:14. And the Lord repented of the evil which he had thought to do unto his people. (Gen. 6:6; Jonah 3:10; Sam. 2:30-31; II Kings 20:1-6; Num. 16:20-35)
Are we punished for our parent's sins?
Ex. 20:5 For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generations. (Ex. 34:7)
Ezek. 18:20 The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father.
Is God Peaceable?
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. (Luke 2:14; Acts 10:36)
Matt. 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth, I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Matt. 10:35-37; Luke 22:36)
Was Jesus trustworthy?
John 8:14 Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true.
John 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
Shall we call people names?
Matt. 5:22 Whosoever shall say Thou fool, shall be in danger of hellfire.

Has anyone seen God?
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at anytime. (Ex 33:20; Tim. 6:16; John 6:46; I John 4:12)
Gen. 32:30 For I have seen god face to face. (Ex. 33:11, 23; Is. 6:1; Job 42:5)
When was Jesus crucified?
Mark 15:22 and it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
John 19:14-15 And about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out...crucify him!"
Shall we obey the law?
I Peter 2:13 Submit yourself to every ordinance of man.
Acts 5:29 We ought to obey God rather than men.
There is the complaint that some of these lines are taken out of context. But the point is this: If the Bible is the perfect mind of deity, why are there any contradictions at all? Why must one resort to confused and complex explanations to justify them?
